“God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds.” – Hebrews 1:1-2

Hi, everyone! I hope that you are well. Thanks so much once again for your continued show of love and support. I appreciate you!!!
Have you ever heard the phrase, “God told me to tell you…”? Maybe you’ve said it. Often people will say the phrase and people wonder why or how God would speak to the person saying it and not to them. Well, those words are used haphazardly and sometimes dangerously. God speaks to you the same way He speaks to me, through His Son Jesus by way of His word.
The Bible says in Hebrews 1:1-2, “God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds.” See before, God spoke to people through prophets and in various ways. He may have spoken to people through visions, dreams, or even donkeys! But God does not speak to us in those ways today.
He has spoken to us through His Son. And we have the recorded words and will of Jesus in the Bible. He spoke to the apostles through the Holy Spirit and they wrote the things that He brought back to their memory (John 14:26). God speaks to us through the Bible.
He is not whispering in some people’s ear to tell you something to do. The same way He speaks to the next person is the same way He speaks to you and me. We can read His word for ourselves and find out how to live our lives and make it to heaven.
Just because someone else uses the phrase “God told me to tell you” does not mean it’s true. Only if they are saying the words from the Bible that you can read yourself do you know that God told you, them, me, and everyone else reading His word.
The Bible says in 2 Timothy 3:16-17 that “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.” The Bible equips us to do every good work and to be spiritually complete. We don’t need someone telling us anything more or differently.
Have you ever heard the phrase before or used it? If you hear it, I challenge you to question it at every turn and to not buy into it. If you have used it, I challenge you to stop using it and start quoting the Scripture instead. Share your thoughts on this in the comments. I look forward to reading them!
“As His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue.” – 2 Peter 1:3
