“All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.” – 2 Timothy 3:16

Hi, everyone! I hope that you are well. Thank you for reading. As always, I appreciate you!!!
Many of us like to hear things that are pleasant and that sound good to our ears. It makes sense. Teachings about health, wealth, and prosperity in God are at, what seems, an all-time high. But when it comes to the Word of God, we must be willing and ready to hear all of it. Every message in the Bible is not one that is going to make you feel warm and fuzzy inside. Some of the messages in God’s word will make us uncomfortable. And when it does, it’s a sign that something needs to change in your life.
Notice what the Bible says in 2 Timothy 3:16: “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.” Some scriptures provide us with principles for living. Others reprimand us for wrong-doing. Some correct us when needed. Others teach us how to live right.
The Bible says, “For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart” (Hebrews 4:12). It can cut us to the bone when we are in the wrong. You’ve probably experienced it, too. When reading or hearing the Bible, you all of a sudden feel convicted. That’s what the Word does to us. It pierces us. It pierced all those gathered on the day of Pentecost who’d had a hand in the death of Jesus. The Bible says after the people heard Peter preaching about Christ, “they were cut to the heart” (Acts 2:37). And they asked what they needed to do to make things right.
The Bible message is calling us all to obey the gospel of Jesus Christ. We must believe that Jesus is the Son of God (John 8:24). We must confess that He is Lord (Matthew 10:32-33). We must repent (stop doing wrong) (Luke 13:3). And we must be baptized for the forgiveness of our sins (Acts 2:38). Then, we must continue to live obedient lives in Christ.
In this way, we honor Christ’s sacrifice – His death, burial, and resurrection.
Do the words above from the Bible prick your heart? Do they discourage you? Does the message feel divisive? If you answer yes, then remember Hebrews 4:12. The word of God is living and powerful. It can change you, if you let it.
Let us not having itching ears so that we won’t hear and accept sound teaching (2 Timothy 4:3). But let us all strive to allow God’s Word to pierce our hearts and cause us to turn to Him.
