Christ Leads The Way

“To the pure all things are pure, but to those who are defiled and unbelieving nothing is pure; but even their mind and conscience are defiled.” – Titus 1:15

Thank God for being so awesome! And thank you for showing love and support! As always, I appreciate you.

As I mentioned before, I deal with severe mental illness on a daily basis. And I had a day or two in the dark pits where everything was doom and gloom, but I’m back now and here sharing with you.

The verse above from Titus struck me like it’s a big, thick, long direct bolt of lightning. It’s the perfect-size verse that is full of wisdom. Paraphrasing, it says that those who do do not believe in Christ are impure and even their minds and consciences are impure (Titus 1:15).

So, the unbeliever does not have a conscience that will prevent them from intruding upon a person’s space, their body, or their thoughts on a daily basis. Unbelievers’ consciences are defiled so that they see their evil actions against others as acceptable, and they try to make the good of others seem evil.

“Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; Who put darkness for light, and light for darkness; Who put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!” – Isaiah 5:20

Some may say that they believe that there is a God, so they are okay. Yet, even devils believe and tremble before God (James 2:19). There’s way more to faithfully serving Christ than believing that God exists. It’s good to believe, but belief is only the first step – an important step, albeit.

For that reason, I’d like us to take a look at unbelievers and what the Bible says about unbelief. It’s God’s desire that everyone will believe and be saved from an everlasting fire of death (2 Pet. 3:9).

The Christian knows that, we’ve been through a lot these past few years with all that’s going on in the world. And if we could make it through what we already have, we can make it through anything, together. The unbeliever, however, does not have that assurance or many others, for that matter.

1. The unbeliever is spiritually blind. Jesus said, “For this reason I speak to them in parables, because looking they do not see, and hearing they do not listen or understand” (Matt. 13:13).

“But the unbeliever does not welcome what comes from God’s Spirit, because it is foolishness to him; he is not able to understand it since it is evaluated spiritually.”-1 Cor. 2:14

2.  The unbeliever has an evil, hard, and unbelieving heart. “They are darkened                 in their understanding, excluded from the life of God, because of the ignorance                   that is in them and because of the hardness of their hearts.” – Ephesians 4:18

“Watch out, brothers, so that there won’t be in any of you an evil, unbelieving heart that departs from the living God.” – Hebrews 3:12

3. The unbeliever has rejected Christ. “You don’t have His word living in you,                       because you don’t believe the One He sent.” – John 5:38

“How can you believe, who receive honor from one another, and do not seek the honor that comes from the only God?” – John 5:44

4. The unbeliever has made God out to be a liar. “The one who believes in the Son              of God has this testimony within him. The one who does not believe God has                       made Him a liar, because he has not believed in the testimony God has given                       about His Son. And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life             is in His Son.” – 1 John 5:10-11

“For what if some did not believe? Will their unbelief make the faithfulness of God without effect? 4 Certainly not! Indeed, let God be true but every man a liar. As it is written: That You may be justified in Your words, and may overcome when You are judged.” – Romans 3:3-4 

5. The unbeliever will be condemned to hell on the day of judgement. The Word               says that God will give people over to strong delusions “that they all may be                         condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness” (2             Thess. 2:12).

“When He comes, He will convict the world about sin, righteousness, and judgment: about sin, because they do not believe in Me.” – John 16:8-9

“Therefore I said to you that you will die in your sins; for if you do not believe that I am He, you will die in your sins.” – John 8:24

There it is. Nothing about the unbeliever is pretty. There is nothing good to say about them – not from God’s perspective. Though they may receive honor and accolades from man that are earthly and fleeting, they lack the honor that comes from God because of their unbelief (John 5:44). The unbeliever has the eternal lake of fire waiting and ready for them (Rev. 21:8), because they seek pleasure in unrighteousness.

The Bible says that those who don’t have faith (meaning, those who don’t believe) are unreasonable and wicked people (2 Thess. 3:2). That sounds about right; it’s very unreasonable to trespass and encroach upon another person’s privacy. Yet, it’s unbelievers who, every day, infringe upon people’s rights and wrongfully enter where they are not invited to be. You are not welcome in my home, in my head, or anywhere near me. That’s what I say to the burglar, to the thief, to the reporter, to the TV talking heads, and to all the other criminals, alike, who enjoy and make fun of harming other people.

“Their hearts are hard and insensitive, but I delight in Your instruction.” -Psalm 119:70

Not believing in Christ is a one-way ticket to hell (Rev. 21:8). But remember, there is more to making it to heaven than believing in Jesus Christ. Yes, you must believe (Mark 16:16). You, also, must confess that Christ is Lord (Rom. 10:9), and you must repent (Luke 13:3). It is also necessary that you be baptized (Acts 2:38). And then, you must live in faithful service to Christ (Rev. 2:10).

But you must first believe, because if you don’t, you will be condemned and die in your sins (Mark 16:16).

“He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned.” – Mark 16:16

Don’t be an unbeliever – spiritually blind, with a hardened and evil heart, rejecting Christ, making God a liar, and eternally condemned to hell. There’s nothing good about that.

Won’t you believe?

“But because of your hardness and unrepentant heart you are storing up wrath for yourself in the day of wrath, when God’s righteous judgment is revealed.” – Romans 2:5
