Bless the Lord – Psalm 103:1

Hi everyone! I hope that you are well. Thank you so very much for all the love and support you have shown me throughout my writing journey – which surprisingly has extended over a period of years now! When I look back at all I’ve written, it’s hard to believe. Thank you for staying the course with me. I am so thankful to God for you. And as always, I appreciate you!!!

We all want to be blessed. We ask God to bless us with good health, a better job, more money, and things and relationships. And it’s good to do that. It’s a good thing to be blessed and to ask God for the blessings we want and need.

But do we ever stop to think that we can bless God, too? Yes! You and I can bless the Lord of heaven and earth – not with material things, of course. There’s nothing that we have that God needs. But all that we have is what He wants.

One of my favorite psalms starts this way: “Bless the Lord, O my soul; and all that is within me, bless His holy name!” (Psalm 103:1). Reading it, thinking about it, singing it brings me to tears. This is because God has blessed me so richly, throughout my life. He’s blessing me right now. And with everything I have, all my soul, and all that is within me, I will bless the Lord.

Bless means to kneel before, to praise, to thank, or to express adoration.

Thinking about the goodness of God brings me to my knees, bowing before Him and thanking Him. It causes me to praise His holy name and express my sincere adoration of Him.

The Lord is worthy of it all. If He never does another thing in my life, God has already blessed me more than enough. Maybe you share similar sentiments.

We all have been blessed by the Lord. So, I encourage you today to bless God, as well. As you go about your day today, when you find yourself asking God to bless you, your food, your travel, or for any other blessing, stop and bless Him, too. Tell the Lord, “Thank You!” Kneel before Him in prayer. And show your love for Him in the best way you know how.

If you don’t know the Lord, you can today! You can experience the love that God has extended to us all through His Son. Jesus died on the cross for our sins so that we can be saved from sin and eternal death and live forever for and with Him. All you have to do is obey Him by believing that Jesus is Lord, confessing that He is Lord, repenting of your sins, and being baptized so that you can be forgiven of your sins. Won’t you be blessed by God in this way, and in turn, bless Him too?

“Bless the Lord, all His works, in all places of His dominion. Bless the Lord, O my soul!” – Psalm 103:22
