Christ Leads The Way

“Please pardon the wrongdoing of this people, in keeping with the greatness of Your faithful love, just as You have forgiven them from Egypt until now.” – Numbers 14:9

Good morning! Thank you for continuing to read and show your love and support. I appreciate you and your kindnesses toward me!

I don’t know about you, but around this time of the week, I’m emotionally spent. And that chips away at any motivation to complete any portion of any kind of to-do-list to live out any sort of goals.

I think that’s what the enemy wants, though. So I keep Christ in mind and push myself to keep going. It’s His amazing gift of love and forgiveness that compels me and propels me forward into each new day.

When I think about the forgiveness that God offers, I am really amazed. If you just think about it from a human perspective: Consider all the wrongs you have committed in your lifetime – or even the worst thing that you could ever have done. Many people would have a field day with that information; they would gossip, make jokes, or even distort and fabricate things just to make it appear more dramatic or worse than it actually is.

That’s how people are – people who allow the devil to work through them. The bible says that “a contrary man spreads conflict, and a gossip separates close friends” (Psalm 16:28). And, “a worthless man digs up evil, and his speech is like a scorching fire” (Psalm 16:27).

People who don’t have compassion or care for others go searching a digging around to find something wrong just to try to hurt other people. They have no concern for the lives of individuals outside of themselves.

“As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us.” – Psalm 103:12

God is not like that, though. Thank God that He is God! “He has not dealt with us as out sins deserve or repaid us according to our offenses” (Psalm 103:10). The Lord doesn’t walk around carrying our sins, wrongdoings, and offenses towards others in His back pocket, like people do.

 “But the woman from Tekoa said to him, “Let my lord the king pardon me and my family, and let the king and his throne be without guilt.” -2 Samuel 14:9

That’s what I want for me and for my family – the pardon that God offers for our sins through the blood of His Son Jesus. He has promised to remove all the wrongdoing from us as if we’d never done it. Think about that. That’s pretty amazing. The perfect-sized pardon.

Pick a random name, person or persons, and imagine if they’d done something wrong. It’s like saying: I completely pardon you of any wrongdoing, charges, convictions, and offenses you have committed or allegedly committed. You are forgiven. Your records are wiped clean of any offenses.  It’s as if whatever you did or allegedly did never happened.

That’s pretty cool that God does that for each and everyone of us who become disciples of Christ. He has promised to erase our past wrongs and sins against Him and others. He wipes the slate clean and we get to start anew.

“He erased the certificate of debt, with its obligations, that was against us and opposed to us, and has taken it out of the way by nailing it to the cross.” – Colossians 2:14

And while others may hold onto our sins and try to make us pay for them over and over again, God offers forgiveness – full pardon of our past – so that we can have a new life and a new future with Him. Christ died so that we could have forgiveness of sins. He took on our sin so that we wouldn’t have to suffer from it.

Isn’t that great? Isn’t that so loving?

We can have a new beginning in Christ if we believe in Him (John 8:24), if we confess that He is Lord (Romans 10:9,10), if we repent of our sins (Acts 2:38), and if we are baptized for the forgiveness of our sins (Acts 2:38).

Then we can live a new life free from sin, free from the guilt of our past, and free from shame. Then, we will have the perfect pardon.

“The Lord responded, “I have pardoned them as you requested.” – Numbers 14:20
