“The Spirit of the Lord God is upon Me, because the Lord has anointed Me to preach good tidings to the poor;
He has sent Me to [a]heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound.” – Isaiah 61:1

Hi friends! Thank you for continuing along on this journey as we study more of God’s Word. Christ definitely leads the way! As always, I appreciate you!
Jesus of Nazareth was a historical figure. He was born. He lived. And He died. He also rose from the dead. But more than a historical figure, Jesus was and is a prophet, a priest, and a king.
1. Jesus is a Prophet
Jesus of Nazareth was and is a prophet. Like the prophets of old, He was anointed by God with the Holy Spirit (Isaiah 61:1). He revealed God to man (Matthew 11:27). He declared His teachings to be God’s (John 12:49). He foretold of things to come (Matthew 24:3-35), and God commands that we listen to Him (Acts 3:22). He referred to Himself as a prophet, and the people regarded Him as a prophet as well (Matthew 21:46).
2. Jesus is a Priest
Jesus is a priest appointed by God, who was also faithful, as were the Levitical priests (Hebrews 3:1-2). We have a High Priest in Jesus who is superior to any other earthly priest (Hebrews 7:11; 8:6). We, therefore, have no need of another priest. Jesus is a priest forever (Hebrews 7:20-21). Just like the Levitical priests offered sacrifices, Jesus offered a sacrifice – Himself (Hebrews 9:26). As a high priest, Jesus made reconciliation for us with God (Hebrews 2:17). He obtained redemption for us (Hebrews 9:12). He intercedes for us (Hebrews 7:25). He sympathizes with us (Hebrews 4:15). And like Aaron and the priests blessed the Israelites (Numbers 6:23-26), Jesus blesses us (Acts 3:26).
3. Jesus is a King
Jesus of Nazareth was not a mere man. He was and is also a king. Jesus has authority as King. He reigns sovereign over all (Matthew 28:18). He also avowed Himself to be King and to have a kingdom (John 18:36-37). Jesus was born to be King. He was recognized as King by His disciples and even those who were not His disciples (John 1:49; 12:13). There is no mistaking; Jesus was King when He walked on earth and He still is today.
Conclusion
Jesus was a man who was born, who lived, and who died. But he was not just an ordinary man. He didn’t stay dead. Jesus was and is God. And He embodies the characteristics of Prophet, Priest, and King. And He can be Prophet, Priest, and King of your life if you will obey Him. You can be saved if you will believe in the Lord Jesus, repent of your sins, confess that He is Lord, and be baptized for the forgiveness of your sins. Let Jesus reign, rule, and abide as Prophet, Priest, and King, in your life today.
