Priests and Jesus

“For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus.” – 1 Timothy 2:5

Hey good people! I want you to know how much grateful I am for your show of love and support for my blog. Thank you for sticking with me! I appreciate you!!

Some people today believe that a priest is another sort of Christ – a go-between for God and man. But a priest on earth does not hold the place of God. The apostle Paul stated it clearly when he wrote that “there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus” (1 Tim. 2:5). Jesus bridges the gap between God and man, not an earthly priest.

Christ’s priesthood is unchangeable. “But He, because He continues forever, has an unchangeable priesthood” (Heb. 7:24). No other priests can make that claim. We actually no longer are in need of priests. All Christians are priests and can approach the throne of God (1 Pet. 2:5, 9).

“You also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Christ Jesus.” – 1 Pet. 2:5

We offer up our own spiritual sacrifices to God. No priest is required for an individual to do that. Jesus has made us kings and priests (Rev. 1:5-6).

Some believe that Catholic priests have the authority to forgive sins. Only Christ can forgive sins (Mk. 2:10) and God the Father (1 John 1:9). Catholic priests also receive gifts to say prayers, but the gift of God cannot be purchased with money (Acts 8:20).

We require only one priest, and that is Christ our High Priest. He made the ultimate sacrifice on Calvary when He gave His life to die for you and me. And we can accept His great sacrifice by being obedient to His will.

Will you accept his sacrifice? Will you repent of your sins, confess the name of Jesus, and be baptized for the forgiveness of your sins?

Jesus made the ultimate sacrifice once and for all. Friends, there’s no need for any other kind of priest because Jesus is our High Priest.
