Finding Refuge in Christ

“Thus God, determining to show more abundantly to the heirs of promise the immutability of His counsel, confirmed it by an oath, that by two immutable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we might have strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold of the hope set before us.” Hebrews 6:17-18

Hi everyone! I hope you are well and that you’ve enjoyed this beautiful day that the Lord has made. Thank you for your continued support of my blog. I appreciate you!!!

Where is it that you feel most safe? For some it may be home or with a particular person. For others it may be nowhere. But sometimes we may not feel safe from danger even though we are completely protected.

The Israelites had their cities of refuge that were established for people to run to for safety after accidentally killing someone (Joshua 20:1-3). And today, we have refuge – not in a city, not within fortified walls, but in Christ (Hebrews 6:18).

We can have shelter from the consequences of sin, protection from the enemy, and relief from life’s troubles when we are in Christ Jesus.

Jesus said, “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28).

Will you come to Jesus? Are you tired? Do you need a hedge of protection around you? Are you weary and burdened with sin? Whether you realize it or not, we all do. So, come to Jesus. He will save you. He will protect you. And He will shelter you from the storms.

All you have to do is obey Christ to have the refuge He offers: believe that He is Lord, confess such, repent of your sins, and be baptized for the forgiveness of your sins.

Trouble is going to come – no matter who or where you are. You need a place of protection. You need a place of shelter. And you need relief – an escape from evil. I need it, too! And I’ve found it in Christ. I hope that you will, too.

If you’ve already taken those steps of obedience to find refuge in Jesus, what encouragement would you give to someone who is currently weary and hesitant to take that leap? Feel free to share this article with others so that they can find refuge in Christ, too.
