The Salt of The Earth

“You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men.” – Matthew 5:13

Hey friends! I hope that you are well. Thank you so much for reading and showing your support. I’m thankful to God for you. And as always, I appreciate you!

Have you ever had food that was bland, tasteless, and without any flavor? Food like that leaves you wanting more of something – seasoning. If you added salt to it, it would taste much better. That’s because salt adds flavor. It livens up a dish. It makes food more palatable. It simply makes food better.

Salt does all those things. It’s interesting that Christ compared His disciples to salt. He said, “You are the salt of the earth […]” (Matthew 5:13). Christians are the salt of the earth. We add flavor to the world. We season the world with goodness. We simply make the world a better place to live.

And it’s not because of any of our own doing. It’s Christ working in us to make us better, and in turn making the world better.

We are supposed to make people around us better for knowing us. We are to make the world more palatable to the senses. Jesus said that “if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned?” (Matthew 5:13). If we lose our flavor, we can’t season the world with goodness.

We can’t lose our flavor. We have to stay in the Word of God, continue in prayer, and serve the Lord Almighty with our whole heart. Then we can be that salt that the world so desperately needs.

Have you lost your flavor? Or do you make your environment on your job and in your home better? Do you add seasoning to the people in your life?

Let’s be that salt that Christ Jesus has called us to be. Let’s make our homes, our jobs, and the people around us better. Let’s season the world with goodness, kindness, and love.

Are you that salt?
