Jesus Cares: Experiencing the Love and Compassion of Christ

“Father, I desire that they also whom You gave Me may be with Me where I am, that they may behold My glory which You have given Me; for You loved Me before the foundation of the world.” – John 17:24

Hi, everyone! I hope that you are well. Thank you so much for your continued show of love and support for my writing on this blog. Every thoughtful comment, every word of encouragement, and every act of kindness you share is greatly appreciated. And I appreciate you!!!

Jesus cares for you. He is not some lofty ideal. Jesus is real, and He really cares for you and me. We can see that throughout Scripture. And, if we stop and think, we can see that truth in our very own lives.

Even though the Lord was facing impending death on the cross, He still showed care and compassion for others.

When He was bombarded in the garden of Gethsemane by troops, and His disciple Peter cut the right ear off one of the high priest’s servants, Jesus healed the man and put his ear back (Luke 22:49-51). They were there to arrest the Lord Jesus for no crime whatsoever, but He had compassion on a man who sought His hurt.

Jesus cares.

The Lord was literally in anguish, sweating drops of blood before He went to the cross. But you know what else He did, knowing He was about to die a cruel death? He prayed for you and me that we might be unified, one in Him and in God the Father (John 17:20-26).

Jesus cares.

Even Pilate, the man who would sanction His death, saw the Jesus’ compassion toward him. As Pilate paced back and forth trying to get the Jews to change their minds about crucifying Jesus, the Lord told him, “The one who delivered Me to you has the greater sin” (John 19:11). He comforted Pilate even though He signed off on His death.

Jesus cares.

And while Jesus was on the cross breathing His last breaths, He showed concern for the woman who birthed Him, who held in her heart everything she saw of the Son of God, and who knew all along just who He truly was. From the cross, Jesus looked down at His mother and His disciple John and said, “‘Woman, behold your son!’ Then He said to the disciple, ‘Behold your mother!’ And from that hour that disciple took her to his own home” (John 19:26-27).

What a Savior! He cares so much for us. Even when we think He won’t, or that our concerns or troubles are trivial, Jesus cares.

I’m so glad that He cares. The Lord has shown me countless times that He values me and that He cares for me. I am sure you can say the same.

So, when it feels like your problems aren’t important or that nobody knows or really understands what you are going through, remember that Jesus cares. He extends His compassion and grace to us all. “For when we were still without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly” (Romans 5:6).

Whatever problem you are facing in life, it’s not too big for the Lord. Whatever challenges come your way, you can overcome them knowing that Jesus Christ the Lord cares about every single detail of your life. He loves you, and He cares.

Sometimes we need a reminder that somebody cares. And what a comfort it is to know that Jesus always does! He doesn’t overlook our tears, dismiss our concerns, or forget our needs. When has the Lord reminded you that He cares? I’ll look for your personal testimony in the comments!
