“But love your enemies, do good, and lend, hoping for nothing in return; and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High. For He is kind to the unthankful and evil.” – Luke 6:35

Hi, friends! I hope that you are well. Thank you so much for how you have supported my writing journey throughout the years. It’s hard to believe it’s been years since I started this blog! But, I am brought to tears when I think of all the love and support you have shown me. The love is felt and it’s overwhleming. I just want to let you know that I love you back! And as always, I appreciate you!!!
When I think about the goodness of the Lord, what stands out to me is His kindness. God is so good to me. He’s good to us all. And He extends to us kindnesses daily. That has me thinking that we should do the same. We need to be kind to each other.
The Lord is kind to us – even to the unthankful and the evil (Luke 6:35). If God – the Creator of the universe – can demonstrate kindnesss toward people who are not good, then we can be kind to strangers, we can be kind to our families, and we can even be kind to those who are not kind to us.
“So rend your heart, and not your garments; return to the Lord your God, for He is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness; and He relents from doing harm” (Joel 2:13).
We all need grace, forgiveness, and mercy at times in our lives – if not daily! An old proverb says, “What is desired in a man is kindness” (Proverbs 19:22).
Even when we feel someone deserves our wrath and to be treated with contempt, we must remember that we are human, we are fallible, and we could very well be in the same or a similar position one day ourselves. That should give us pause. That should cause us to show grace, respect, kindness, and love to others because we would want those same things. It doesn’t take much to be kind.
So I encourage you, friends, today and every day, let’s “be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you” (Ephesians 4:32).
We don’t have to let the harmful actions of others dictate our responses or change who we are at our core. Even when we are mistreated, we can choose to respond with love. In a world that may expect us to break or fail, we can reflect Christ and let our light shine through the darkness.
I pray that someone shows you kindness today and that you, in turn, share that same compassion with others.
To everyone who has shown me kindness, thank you.
Go be kind. 💙
