“Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?” – 1 Corinthians 3:16

Hey all! Thank you for continuing to show your love and support in reading. I appreciate you!

Thank God the Father for His Son and His sweet Holy Spirit. Those of us who are Christians have been promised many spiritual blessings. One of those blessings is the Spirit of Christ. Let’s note 5 things about the Holy Spirit.

1. The Spirit intercedes on the Christian’s behalf.

Notice Romans 8:26-27: “Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God.”

Sometimes we don’t know what to pray for, but thankfully His Spirit intercedes for us and prays for us according to the will of God.

2. The Spirit dwells within the baptized believer.

Romans 8:9 expounds on the idea: “But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His.” Those who belong to Christ have the Spirit of Christ dwelling in them.

3. Christians are led by the Spirit.

The apostle Paul taught the Christians at Rome that “for as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God” (Romans 8:14).The sons and daughters of God are led by His Spirit. That doesn’t mean in some miraculous or magical way He leads us. It means that we are led by His Spirit’s teachings through His word.

4. Our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit.

In 1 Corinthians 3:16, Paul asked, “Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?” And again in 1 Corinthians 6:19: “Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own?” The Christian does not belong to herself, but to the Lord. Therefore our bodies are the Lord’s and we are to honor and glorify Him in our bodies.

5. The Spirit dwells in the Christian’s heart.

Galatians 4:6 exclaims, “And because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying out, ‘Abba, Father!’” The Spirit of Christ resides in the heart of the Christian. It’s because we are saved we have the right to become sons and daughters. And because we are sons and daughters, we have the Spirit of Christ.

Conclusion

Now, I will say that just because we have the Spirit of Christ, as Christians, does not mean that we have miraculous gifts as the first century apostles and Christians did. I believe that miraculous gifts and signs have ended now that we have the complete will and testament of Christ.

The blessings of the Holy Spirit are many. If you have not become a child of God, you can. All you have to do is obey the Lord in belief (Mark 16:16), in repentance (Acts 2:38), in confession (Romans 10:9), and in baptism (Mark 16:16). And you can have the promise of His Spirit dwelling in your heart. Won’t you turn to the Lord today?

“For we through the Spirit eagerly wait for the hope of righteousness by faith.” – Galatians 5:5
