You Can’t Have Christianity Your Way

Whatever I command you, be careful to observe it; you shall not add to it nor take away from it.” – Deuteronomy 12:32 NKJV

Hey, friends! I hope that you and your families are well. Thank you so much for continuing to demonstrate your love and support. I appreciate you!

Friends, we live in a “Have It Your Way” society. People want things tailored to their preferences. You go to a restaurant and order specifically what you want added to your meal and what you want taken away from it. And there’s nothing wrong with having your food the way you like it. But we can’t expect to follow Christ and “have it out way.” Christianity is not like a fast food restaurant.

We can’t take away the parts we don’t like and add what we prefer to have in our lives when we follow Jesus Christ. The Lord said in His Word, “Whatever I command you, be careful to observe it; you shall not add to it nor take away from it” (Deuteronomy 12:32).

Yet people have added instrumental music to worship, when God commanded us simply to sing. They have decided to take away the part where marriage is between a man and a woman. People have even added to Christianity women pastors, when shepherds of the church are supposed to be men as outlined in scripture.

We cannot have Christianity our way. It must be the way that Christ has designed and laid out in the Bible. He, afterall, is the author of our salvation.

Notice the stark warning for anyone who tries to add to or take away from the words of the Lord: “If anyone adds to these things, God will add to him the plagues that are written in this book; and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part from the Book of Life, from the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book” (Revelation 22:18-19).I

Let’s be careful that we’re not adding to or taking away from what the Lord has commanded.
