“Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interest of others.” – Philippians 2:4
Hey, friends! Thank you so much for reading and showing your love and support. I appreciate you!!
In Philippians 2:1-4, Paul urges the Christians in Philippi to be united in their thinking, “having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind” (Philippians 2:2). His message to them is one that rings true for us today. We should be bound together in unity, and we should have the same love for one another.
Imagine what our communities, our country, and this world would look like today if we all followed Paul’s teachings. He commands: “Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself ” (Philippians 2:3).
That humility is the humility of mind that Christ exemplified when He died on the cross for your sins and mine. That humility is what will stop injustices and cure racial inequalities in our society. If every person considers the next person better than himself, then people will treat others how they want to be treated, if not better.
We must honor one another, respect one another, and love one another, without regard to the color of our skin. When we hold each other in high esteem, then every life will matter and not just the lives of those who are privileged in our society.
I hope that we can all heed Paul’s words and be unified in our love for each other, especially Christians. We are the light that will lead the way for others.
Let’s approach each other with humility and not arrogance. Let’s treat each other with respect and not disregard for human life. And let’s just love each other and not hate those who do not look like us.
Finally, let us not look out only for our own interests, but also for the needs, the wants, and the desires of others (Philippians 2:4). That’s the way of love. And that’s the way of Christ.
