“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.” 2 Cor. 5:17
Hey, friends! It’s hard to believe that the year 2019 has come to an end. Time really flies. Through the highs and the lows of this year, you have been so supportive. And you always show me so much love in reading. I want you to know that your support means so much to me and you help me to keep writing. Thanks for the love you show. I love you back! And as always, I sincerely appreciate you!!
As we embark on a new year, many people began to think about a new outlook, a new diet, a new exercise plan, a new job, or a new purpose – basically, a “new you.” But how can a person truly become new?
The Bible says, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new” (2 Co. 5:17). A person truly isn’t new until she is in Christ. But “How does one get ‘into’ Christ?” you may ask. Good question.
“For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ” (Gal. 3:27). Baptism is what puts us into Christ. It’s reiterated in Scripture: “Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death” (Rom. 6:3)?
Friends, if you really want to be a new creation – that “new you” – then you have to obey Jesus Christ and put Him on in baptism. There are some who teach that baptism isn’t necessary for salvation. But that is false teaching. The Word of God is clear that baptism puts us into Christ.
Do you want all things to become new? For old things in your life to pass away? Then you must obey the Lord in repentance – meaning, change your way of thinking to result in a change in your actions and way of living. You must also obey Him in baptism (Mk. 16:16).
Go into the new year as a “new you” by putting on Christ.
Are you in Christ?
