A Good Day

With a grateful heart, I give thanks for all of God's blessings.

Today is a good day. In fact, every day that the Lord grants me on this earth is a good day because He made it. Despite what happens throughout the day, it is still good. Some days may be more stressful or hectic than others. Some may be filled with challenges or even pain. But if God gave it to me, it’s good.

This is how I’m working to see every day. It really provides me some perspective. I’ve been reflecting on my outlook and attitude towards things. It can be easy to get caught up in everything that’s not going right or the way that you want it to go and sometimes complain without even knowing it. But Christ has instructed us to give thanks in everything. Everything includes those days with struggles and the ones that are tough. The way you see things can change the way you respond to any situation in life.

I have been so focused on all the things that aren’t like what I want them to be and all the disappointments that I’ve faced that I let it overshadow the good. There’s so much for which to be thankful. It may not always feel like it, but there is still some good left in this world. And there are good people who care about others, about justice, and about what is right. I don’t trust people enough to sift through which is which, but I know that good people exist. There have been a number who have helped in kind and loving ways to get me where I am now. At times it’s been a kind word from a stranger in passing that has provided encouragement along the way. Sometimes we entertain angels and don’t even know it (Hebrews 13:2). To those who have been good and positive forces in my life, “Thank-You.”

“And the King will answer them, ‘I assure you: Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of Mine, you did for Me’” (Matthew 25:40).

Life can be very difficult at times, but if we change our view and focus on all the good that is present, we’ll be better off for it. So, I’m going to dwell on the good things in life and set my thoughts on things above and not on things that are upon the earth (Philippians 4:8, Colossians 3:2). Today, I’m counting my blessings, and I haven’t been able to stop yet. If I never earn another penny in this life, I am richly blessed.

“This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.” – Psalm 118:24
