“Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28)

Hey friends! Happy New Year! I hope that you are well!
I often hear people say, “The Lord says, ‘Come as you are’” when they are referencing the state that they are in when they decide to “go to church” or commit their lives to Christ. While that particular phrase is not in the Bible, I believe it comes from Matthew 11:28.
In that verse, Jesus says, “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” Jesus wants us all to come to Him. And yes, He wants us to come as we are – with all of our addictions, our struggles, our heartaches, our temptations, and our sins.
However, although Christ petitions all people of all nationalities, with all of our sin to come to Him as we are, He also doesn’t want us to remain as we are. Christ has the power to change lives, and when you come into contact with Him, your life will be transformed if you are obedient to Him.
So yes, we can come as we are, but we must leave changed.
Jesus requires us to repent – to turn from our ways of ungodly living and serve the one, true, and living God (Luke 13:3). Will you come to Jesus today? You may come just as you are but be sure not to stay that way and be changed.
