Why Were You Baptized?

“He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned.” – Mark 16:16

Hey friends! I’m so glad that you keep reading. I appreciate you and your show of support! Much love and many thanks.

Have you been baptized? Lots of people have and for many different reasons. But it’s important that we know and do what the Lord says as it relates to baptism.

Some people get sprinkled as a baby. Some people get immersed because they were made to as a child. And still some get baptized because they think it’s a good thing to do.

But Jesus said, “He who believes and is baptized will be saved” (Mk. 16:16). Baptism is necessary for salvation. So is belief. The Scripture also tells us that baptism also saves us (1 Pet. 3:21). We are baptized into Christ (Gal. 3:27). When we go down in the watery grave, we are baptized into His death and rise to newness of life in Him when we come up out of the water (Rom. 6:3-4).

That can’t be done with mere sprinkling. Furthermore we have no examples of babies being baptized in the New Testament. They have no reason to be baptized; they can’t understand or reason what its purpose is.

Baptism must be for the right reason and done the right way. Jesus is the one who says what is right. There’s nothing complex or controversial about it.

If you haven’t been baptized for the forgiveness of your sins, then you can be. Be baptized for the right reason and in the right way – submersed in water.

Why were you baptized? And how? I’m curious to know. Leave your answers in the comments section. Let’s talk about baptism.
