Everything We Need

“As His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue.” – 2 Peter 1:3

Hey all! I hope that you and your families are well. Thank you for reading and subscribing to my blog. I appreciate your show of love and support. And I appreciate you!

It can be hard to shake that feeling of wanting more. Many of us want a better paying job, a bigger house, or a better-looking car. Some even desire things that are not material, like a spouse, better health, or better relationships. There’s nothing wrong with wanting better for yourself. But we have to keep those desires in check and remember what God says in His word.

Notice 2 Peter 1:3 says that God has given us all things that pertain to life and godliness through the knowledge of Christ. So what does that mean? It means that we have everything we need. There’s no lack in Christ Jesus. He’s already given us all things that relate to life and godliness through Christ.

Jesus admonishes us to not worry about things like what we will eat or what we will wear. He instructs us to seek His kingdom first and all these things will be added to us (Matthew 6:31-33). Peter simply echoed these sentiments. We need not to worry about the next best thing or even our health or relationships. When we trust in the Lord and put our hope in Him, everything else will fall into place.

So the next time you’re praying to God or even pouting about what you want or don’t have, remember that God has already given you everything that you need. And then be grateful for those things, seek God with all your being, and wait and trust Him to give you the desires of your heart.

“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.– Matthew 6:33

  1. So good and so timely! Yesterday as I found myself wanting something that I had been asking God for, ok maybe pouting is a better word, I told myself to just “Thank God” and “Be Thankful.” I have found myself repeating that to myself all day and even today. Thank God that He provides all I need and be thankful for his goodness and provisions. Whenever the thought creeps in, I find myself walking up the stairs reminding myself Thank God and Be Thankful!

  2. That’s awesome that you remind yourself to be thankful. I have to catch myself pouting about things I want sometimes, too, and remember to be grateful for all that God has blessed me with. Thank you for your thoughtful comment. 😊
