Christ Leads The Way

“That you may be blameless and harmless, children of God without fault in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world.” – Philippians 2:15

In Philippians chapter two, Paul instructs Christians to “do all things without complaining and disputing” (Philippians 2:14). He adds that it’s so that we can be harmless and without blame in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among who we shine as lights in the world (Philippians 2:15).

Let’s stay here for a moment. We shine as lights in the midst of a dark world. Just as a lighthouse illuminates the dark waters and guides the traveler’s way, Christians shine and provide visibility for others to see Christ.

That’s why Jesus said, “Let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven” (Matthew 5:16). We are the light, my Christian friends. We must be different and stand out from the rest of the world.

“And do not be confirmed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” – Romans 12:2

When we differentiate ourselves from the world, we prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God (Romans 12:2). But we must be transformed. Let’s not be confirmed to the world in its crookedness and perversion.

Let’s let our lights shine, just like Christ shines in our lives. Jesus is the true light that gives light to every man coming into the world (John 1:9). You can have that light, (if you don’t already) and no longer dwell in darkness (John 12:46). All you have to do is obey the Lord in repentance (Luke 13:3), in belief (John 8:24), in confession (Romans 10:9-10), and in baptism (Mark 16:16). Then you will be saved from darkness, and you can walk in the marvelous light of Christ.

Let’s let our lights shine bright.

“This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all.” – 1 John 1:5
