Mansion, Robe, and A Crown

“And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.” – John 14:3

mansion, robe, crown

Hey good people! Thank you for reading. Your show of love and support means more than I can express. As always, I appreciate you!

There’s a song that the church sings entitled “Mansion, Robe, and Crown.” Part of the chorus asks for the Lord to please reserve my mansion, robe, and crown. The Bible speaks of all three in reference to heaven.

Now don’t get me wrong, but I don’t have to have a mansion, a robe, or a crown. Literally, I mean. I just want to get to heaven. But the blessings of a mansion, robe, and crown mean that one does make it to heaven. So, I want what God has prepared for me.

In John chapter 14 Jesus said, “In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you” (Jn. 14:2). Now, I don’t believe Jesus was talking about literal mansions – and just the same with a robe and crown. Some translations render the word mansion as rooms. I think Jesus was saying, it’s big enough in heaven for everyone for whom He’s prepared it.

Revelation 7:9 says about the throne of God, “After these things I looked, and behold, a great multitude which no one could number, of all nations, tribes, peoples, and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, with palm branches in their hands.” The great multitude of people in white is representative of those who have had their sins washed clean by the blood of the Lamb.

In Revelation 2:10 the Lord says, “Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life.” For those who live their lives in service and obedience to God, He has promised everlasting life.

But not just anybody can get a mansion in heaven. Not just anybody can get a robe, and not just anybody can get a crown. These are things that are promised to those who obey Jesus Christ, the Son of God. You cannot go to the place that Jesus has prepared in heaven unless you do what He says (Matt. 7:21).

Jesus said, “I am going away, and you will seek Me, and will die in your sin. Where I go you cannot come […] Therefore I said to you that you will die in your sins; for if you do not believe that I am He, you will die in your sins. ” (Jn. 8:21, 24). If you do not believe that Jesus is the Son of God – the Christ – then there is no mansion for you in heaven.

There is no crown of life prepared for you if you do not confess that Jesus is Lord and repent (Matt. 10:32; Luke 13:3). Death is what waits for you if you do not – the second death in a fiery flame (2 Thess. 1:7-9).

And there is no white robe for you if you will not be baptized for the forgiveness of your sins. Baptism brings you into contact with the blood of Jesus Christ that washes one clean of all sin (Rom. 6:1-6). Arise, be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling on the name of the Lord (Acts 22:16).

Those who don’t obey Christ won’t make it to heaven – that means no mansion, no robe, and no crown.

Do you want to make it to heaven? Then stop living a sinful life and turn to Jesus today. Repent and be baptized. Then live a faithful life to get your mansion, robe, and crown.

  2. It is a very pretty rendition of Mansion Over the Hilltop. I like that song, too, just as I do Mansion, Robe, and a Crown. Thanks for stopping by and sharing! 😊
