Hope for the Afflicted

“Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing psalms.” – James 5:13

Hey readers and friends! Thank-you for showing love and support in reading. I appreciate you!

You know, we all have obstacles in life to overcome. No one is exempt from adversity. It comes in all different forms for each of us.

The saving grace is that there is a God who will be with us in the midst of our afflictions – helping us to weather the raging storms that life brings us.

The Lord will be a strength and refuge for you in your struggles. He has been and forever will be “a strength to the poor, a strength to the needy in distress, a refuge from the storm, a shade from the heat” (Isa. 25:4).

We must always remember that “many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all” (Psalm 34:19). He may not deliver us when and how we want Him to do it, but we can trust His Word that He will.

When we are afflicted with the trials of life, we have hope because “the Lord of Hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge” (Psa. 46:7).

The Lord provides comfort for us and He is compassionate. That’s nice to think about – that God has compassion for me and He wants to and does comfort me when I’m going through difficult times in life. “For the Lord has comforted His people, and will have mercy on His afflicted” (Isa. 49:13).

If you are afflicted with personal struggles that seem insurmountable to overcome, know that there is hope and there is comfort in Christ.

If you have not allowed the Lord into your heart and your life, then won’t you do it today? Believe that Jesus is the Christ (Jn. 8:24). Repent of your sins (Lk. 13:3). Confess that Jesus is Lord (Mt. 10:32-33). Be baptized for the forgiveness of your sins (Mk. 16:16). And live a faithful life in service to Christ (Rev. 2:10).

The Lord Jesus will help you through your struggles and whatever obstacles you face. He will be your strength. He will deliver you. He will be with you. And He will comfort you. I attest to it. He’s done it for me, and He’ll do it for you, too.

“Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.” – Isaiah 41:10
