Jesus’ Second Coming

“For what is our hope, or joy, or crown of rejoicing? Is it not even you in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ at His coming?” – 1 Thess. 2:19

Hey friends! Thank you again for reading!! I appreciate you!

I’m so glad that my Lord didn’t stay in the grave and that He rose again. I’m even more glad that He’s coming back again. And I am even more glad still that I get to go and be with Him. That’s exciting to think about doing. I want to see  him. Jesus is coming again!

Let’s notice a few things about His second coming.

  1. Jesus is coming back at an unexpected time.

Jesus said, “But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but My Father only” (Matt. 24:36). “For you yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so comes as a thief in the night” (1 Thess. 5:2). “Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect” (Matt. 24:36). We don’t know when He’s coming, but He is returning.

2. Jesus is coming back in heavenly glory.

“When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the holy angels with Him, then He will sit on the throne of His glory” (Matt. 25:31). When He comes, He’s coming on a cloud with glory (Luke 21:27). If we do not acknowledge Him now, we will not be able to partake of that glory (Luke 9:26).

3. Jesus is coming back to judge the world.

When Jesus comes, everyone will stand before Him as sheep and goats. And He will separate the sheep on the right from the goats that he will separate on the left, as a shepherd does. The sheep will inherit the kingdom and the goat will be punished (Mtt. 25:31-46). “I charge you therefore before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, who will judge the living and the dead at His appearing and His kingdom” (2 Tim. 4:1).  Our actions will be judged when He returns – either good or bad.

4. Jesus is coming back to receive His saints.

Jesus said, “And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also” (John 14:3). Then Paul, writing to the saints and faithful brethren at Colosse (Col. 1:2), wrote: “When Christ who is our life appears, then you will also appear with Him in glory” (Col. 3:4). “And when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of glory that does not fade away” (1 Pet. 5:4). He’s not coming back for just anybody, He’s coming back to get His saints.

So then, “Therefore be patient, brethren, until the coming of the Lord […]” (James 5:7). And, “gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and rest your hope fully upon the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ” (1 Pet. 1:3). For those who are going through storms of life, you can “rejoice to the extent that you partake of Christ’s sufferings, that when His glory is revealed, you also may be glad with exceeding joy” (1 Pet. 4:13).

The Lord Jesus is coming back again. If you are not one of His sheep – His saints that He will receive in glory  – then, you need to become a part of His fold today. Don’t be a goat. Believe that Jesus is Lord, repent of your sins, confess that He’s Lord to others, and be baptized for the forgiveness of your sins. Then, He will add you to His fold of sheep. We don’t know when the Lord is coming back, so let’s be ready!

“He who testifies to these things says, ‘Surely, I am coming quickly!’ Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus!” – Rev. 22:20
