“But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look at his appearance or at his physical stature, because I have refused him. For the Lord does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” – 1 Samuel 16:7

Hi, everyone! I hope that you are well. Thank you to all who. continue to read and show your support. I appreciate you!!
David was a man after God’s own heart (Acts 13:22). Upon just looking at him from the outside, no one would expect such a thing. David orchestrated the murder of Uriah, the husband of Bathsheba. He also sinned greatly before the Lord in other ways (1 Chronicles 21:8). From a human’s perspective, none of us may deem David worthy. What we experience with our five senses – touch, sight, smell, taste, and hearing – is not what God looks at when He judges a person.
What really matters then? Is it what the Lord regards as important? Or, it it what we physically experience?
Remember, as high as the heavens are above the earth, our thoughts are not God’s thoughts, nor are our ways His ways (Isaiah 55:8-9). We can put so much importance on how people look, speak, and so forth, to the point that we overlook what’s really important. What’s important is what’s in a person’s heart.
Jesus said, “‘Are you thus without understanding also? Do you not perceive that whatever enters a man from outside cannot defile him, because it does not enter his heart but his stomach, and is eliminated, thus purifying all foods?’ And He said, ‘What comes out of a man, that defiles a man. For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lewdness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness. All these evil things come from within and defile a man’” (Mark 7:17-23).
Jesus also said, “A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth evil. For out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks” (Luke 6:45).
Is your heart right with God despite what designer clothes and shoes you wear? Is it right despite your appearance or despite the expensive cologne or perfume you wear? Despite it all, is your heart right with God? All that other stuff is going to burn up, is temporary, and won’t matter on Judgment Day. And it can’t get us to heaven.
“Today, if you will hear His voice, Do not harden your hearts” (Hebrews 4:7). “Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water” (Hebrews 10:22).
Will you obey the gospel of Christ? Allow your heart to be purified by the blood of Christ. “And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma” (Ephesians 5:2).
Let’s all strive to have good hearts in the sight of God.
