“And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it.” – Matthew 16:18

Hi, friends! I hope that you are well. Thank you so much for your continued show of love and support. I love you, back! And as always, I appreciate you!!
There are so many different sects of Christianity existing in the world today – so many churches. It can be confusing to understand what is right and what is wrong about the teachings of the Bible. This confusion arises because so many churches are teaching different things. But it doesn’t have to be confounding. The Bible makes it clear. There really is only one true church. And that church belongs to Christ.
After Peter made the statement that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God, Jesus replied. He said, “And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it” (Matthew 16:18).
Jesus did not say that He would build the Catholic Church. He did not say He would build the Baptist church, the Methodist church, the Lutheran church, or the Episcopalian church. What He did say was that He would build His church. The church belongs to Christ.
Ephesians 5: 23 and 25 say that Christ is the head of the church, and He gave Himself for her. The Bible doesn’t say that a pastor is the head of the church or any man or woman. Jesus is the head.
Who is the head of the church of which you are a member? Is it named after Christ or someone or something else?
Notice how the Bible describes Jesus’ church.
- The church of God. 1 Corinthians 1:2.
- The church of Christ. Romans 16:16.
- The house of God. 1 Timothy 3:15.
- The church of the living God. 1 Timothy 3:15.
- The pillar and ground of the truth. 1 Timothy 3:15.
Are you a member of Christ’s church or somebody else’s? You can become a member of Christ’s church by being obedient to His gospel. All it takes is belief that Jesus is Lord, confessing so, repenting of your sins, being baptized for forgiveness of your sins, and living a faithful life in service to Him.
The man-made churches can be left to the men who want to lord over them like it’s theirs. Instead, be added to the church for which Jesus shed His blood.
