“Therefore, whatever you want men to do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets.” – Matthew 7:12

Hi, friends! I hope that you are well! Thanks so much for the love you show and for your support! I appreciate you!!
How many people does it take for a society to treat people with dignity and respect? The answer is simple: one. It starts with you. It starts with me. Treat me with respect – respect of my privacy, my space, my body, my thoughts, and my being. Then, it becomes a trickle effect. When one person chooses to treat people the way they want to be treated, then that same person can go and do the same. And we develop this sort of moral code that people, including ourselves, need to be treated with esteem and respect.
While that supposedly exists today, it’s not always the case that people consistently honor that moral code. Sure, we all make mistakes at times. But to intentionally and habitually mistreat a person is what we are talking about here. Even Jesus Christ was subject to disrespect. The Holy Son of God was beaten, bruised, and stricken by people who felt threatened by His existence and didn’t like HIm. They wanted to do everything they could to destroy Him.
The Bible says, “He was oppressed and He was afflicted” (Isaiah 53:7). If Jesus suffered mistreatment at the hands of others, then we, too, at times, will suffer at the hands of others, as well. Not every one has a moral code, and not every one is guided by ethics. And everyone doesn’t always care about how another person is treated.
But you can care. I can care. We all can care for one another. And we can treat every person around us with the same dignity and respect with which we want to be treated.
While some operate as if they are superior in some way than others and as if they don’t have to treat certain people with esteem and respect of their person, none of us are better than anybody else.
So, let’s choose to be the one – the one who stands up against the mistreatment of others, the one who treats people how you want to be treated, the one who values and respects the lives of others.
Go be light.
“Owe no one anything except to love one another, for he who loves another has fulfilled the law.” – Romans 13:8
