10 Things the Bible Says About “The Faith”

“As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving” (Colossians 2:6-7).

Contend for the Faith

Hi, friends! I hope that you and your families are well. Thank you for continuing to read and show your support. As always, I appreciate you!

The Bible makes the distinction between faith and the faith. Faith refers to belief, whereas the faith refers to the Christian system of beliefs and lifestyle – Christianity. Let’s notice 10 things that the Bible says about we are to do concerning the faith.

1. We must contend earnestly for the faith. Jude 1:3

“Beloved, while I was very diligent to write to you concerning our common salvation, I found it necessary to write to you exhorting you to contend earnestly for the faith, which was once for all delivered to the saints.”

2. We must be obedient to the faith. Acts 6:7

“Then the word of God spread, and the number of the disciples multiplied greatly in Jerusalem, and a great many of the priests were obedient to the faith.”

3. We must continue in the faith. Acts 14:22

“Strengthening the souls of the disciples, exhorting them to continue in the faith, and saying, ‘We must through many tribulations enter the kingdom of God’.”

4. We must be strengthened in the faith. Acts 16:5

“So the churches were strengthened in the faith, and increased in number daily.”

5. We must stand fast in the faith. 1 Corinthians 16:13

“Watch, stand fast in the faith, be brave, be strong.”

6. We must examine ourselves to see if we are in the faith. 2 Corinthians 13:5

“Examine yourselves as to whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Do you not know yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you?—unless indeed you are disqualified.”

7. We must all come to the unity of the faith. Ephesians 4:13

“Till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ.”

8. We must strive together for the faith. Philippians 1:27

“Only let your conduct be worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or am absent, I may hear of your affairs, that you stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel.”

9. We must be sound in the faith. Titus 1:13

“This testimony is true. Therefore rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith.”

10. We must be steadfast in the faith. 1 Peter 5:9

“Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world.”
