How To Deal With Anxiety
“Anxiety in the heart of man causes depression, But a good word makes it glad.“ – Proverbs 12:25
Hey friends! Thank you for reading and showing me love and support! I appreciate you!!
We all worry from time to time. We worry about our health. We worry about our families. And, in this pandemic, we worry about whether we will get COVID and still live. There are lots of things we could be worried and anxious about in our lives, but Jesus instructed us not to be.
He said, “And do not seek what you should eat or what you should drink, nor have an anxious mind” (Luke 12:29). If the Lord commands us not to do something, then there must be a way for us to accomplish His command.
I know it’s not always easy. I discuss my own struggles with anxiety in Steps Ordered By The Lord. But God has provided us with tools to carry out the task that He has laid before us: Do not worry.
So how do we do it?
We cast all our cares on Him, because He cares for us (1 Peter 5:7).
The Lord makes it more clear in the book of Philippians when He says, “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God” (Philippians 4:6).
We must take our doubts, our fears, our worries, and even our failures to God in prayer and petition Him for our hearts’ desires. And we must do it with a thankful heart.
Worry doesn’t change a thing. Excessive worry and anxiety can cause depression (Proverbs 12:25). But the Lord wants you to know that He cares for you. He said, “Take my yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls” (Matthew 11:29).
Take your worries to the Lord. And, then, leave them there.
